Westward, Ho!

Chicago, IL – the adventure begins

Two Wheelin’

Just ten days before our big trip out west I realized that Caleb and his training wheels would have a hard time keeping up with us on our planned bike rides. So I decided to take off the training wheels and see if he could adapt in time. As with the other kids, I spent the afternoon running back and forth across the cul de sac sweating and breaking my back only to have Erik come home in the evening and magically transform Caleb into a proficient two-wheel rider in a matter of minutes. (Yay for Daddy!) Caleb was quite pleased with his success--and with the higher speeds attainable with no training wheels to hold him back. He rode like a champ on our trip, just weeks later. Good job, Bub!

April Fool’s!

I really would have to be a fool to have fallen for this, but Meg gets an A for creativity and effort. (A- for spelling.)

By the way, the Justin Bieber duct tape was a white elephant gift from last Christmas.
