Cooling off in the River
Last Friday after supper we went to the Chattahoochee to get our feet wet and cool off. It was so fun!! Not too far from our house is a park with easy access to a pretty section of the river. We could feel the air getting cooler the closer we got to the bank. The water was really cold, but just perfect for wading. And the light was amazing, everything was golden. A great evening.
Erik spotted a crawfish. Can you see that Meg's hand is on his shoulder? She is not overly cautious in her own endeavors, but is constantly restraining others in what she perceives as dangerous situations.

Out of the Mouths of Babes
A few entertaining things heard at our house lately...
Meg
the titles of her three latest books (for those who don't know, she is a prolific writer.):
"My New Poodle" "The Dolphin I Ride on Every Day" "The Pencils' First Basketball Game"
Nate
while sitting in a wooden chair with his legs folded under him:
Mama, in Heaven will falling asleep feet not be?
while working in the garden with me:
I like pulling weeds so much I wish they were going to be in Heaven.
Kate
replying to my suggestion that she not play with her little Snow White figure and its microscopic accessories on the multi-colored rug, lest they become lost: We can go find them like the man in the Bible who found his sheep.
Caleb
chattering about his current favorite book "I Love Trucks": Guck, Guck, Ahhhy Guck
trying to join in the nightly joke fest around the dining room table: nonk nonk

Water Fun
Well, as it turned out Caleb was well by Sunday morning, but Meg was sick. I stayed home with all the kids, assuming that at least one of the other two would get it next and there was no sense infecting all the Sunday school classes. (Sure enough, on Monday, Nate's fever showed up.) Anyway, Sunday was the most relaxing day I have had in a long time. We sat around reading books and lay around listening to books on CD and pretty much doing nothing all together. But we did manage to squeeze in a little pool time on Sunday evening while Meg's Motrin was in full force.
